Electrified butt hinges connect door exit devices or locks with an access control system. Butt hinges have two rectangular mounting plates, called leaves, connected at a center knuckle joined by a hinge pin. One leaf mounts onto the door and one mounts onto the frame for a swinging motion up to 180°. Butt hinges are the most commonly used type of door hinge.
